Assessment
Psychological assessment is a process through which a psychologist conducts a clinical interview and collects data in order to answer specific referral questions. Assessments can provide more detailed information about a specific area of functioning, and it can also create a more comprehensive picture of an individual's overall functioning. These findings can guide treatment planning, increase self-understanding, and identify areas and settings in which additional support might be needed. Though assessments are not always used in this way, I also believe that the assessment process can be an opportunity for personal insight and growth in much the same way that therapy is utilized. I conduct assessments for both children and adults.
